Ghana international midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong insists he holds no regrets over leaving Arsenal after joining Russian Premier League new-boys FK Ufa.

The 22-year-old workhorse inked a three-year-contract last week to join the Citizens after failing at English Championship side Barnsley.

Frimpong fell down the pecking order at Arsenal and was declared surplus to require at the Emirates Stadium and axed last season.

However after arriving in Russia on Friday, the powerful central midfielder claims he holds no regret over his exit from Arsenal despite the status of the Gunners and the Premier League.

"I do not regret leaving Arsenal it was the right decision. Unfortunately in Barnsley it was not quite right. We did not win, the coach changed the tactics and so I fell off the boat. And that's why I'm here now," he told Russian reporters.

The former Fulham loanee is expected to mark his Premier League debut for Ufa next weekend after the international breaks.

He admitted his joy at joining the club.

"I simply could not refuse this offer. When my agent told me to go to Russia to sign the contract, I immediately said "okay". Ufa wanted me, which made me very happy and has convinced me." Frimpong said.
