Ghana and Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has risen above all stars including Lionel Messi as the player with most successful dribbles in Spanish La Liga in 2019/20 season.
This was revealed in a release by a Spanish sport press in top 5 most successful dribbles with 50+ dribbles attempted.
Despite the shocking position of Atletico Madrid on the La Liga standings this season before the break, Partey has won almost all hearts of Rojiblanco fans with his improved stats which perhaps the reason the team is still having suspending hopes for next season’s Champions League spot.
The 26-year-old was a catalyst for Diego Simeone's men when they eliminated holders Liverpool from the UEFA Champions League in March.
The versatile enforcer came above one of the best players in modern day football, for that matter, La Liga and 3 more stars to make the top of the list.
According to statistics gathered by Opta, Lionel Messi is not the best dribbler in Liga, beaten by Thomas Partey and two other players.
Messi is only fourth in the ranking of the biggest dribblers in Liga this season, notably ahead of teammate Frenkie De Jong.
This ranking is led by Partey. The midfielder has posted a good 81.8% rate of successful dribbling this season.
He is closely followed by Cameroon and Villarreal midfielder, André-Frank Zambo-Anguissa (81.1%).
The two Africans are followed by De Jong (74.5%), Messi (67.3%) and Ever Banega (66.1%) close the ranking taking into account only the players who have attempted more than 50 dribbles this season.
