Ghana name preliminary squad for African U20 title defence

Ghana Under-20 coach Orlando Wellington has named a provisional 26-man list to begin preparations for next month's African title defence in South Africa,GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The list includes 15 locally-based players and 11 youngsters plying their trades abroad.

The Black Satellites will assemble in Naivasha, Kenya for two weeks from 1 April where the final 21-man squad will be selected before leaving for the tournament.

In-form Palermo midfielder Afriyie Acquah and Olympique Marseille forward Jordan Ayew head the list of foreign legions.

Ghana are paired in pool B alongside favourites Cameroon, Nigeria and Gambia.

The tournament runs from 17 April- 2 May and all four semi-finalists will represent the continent at the Fifa World Youth Championship in Colombia later this year.
