Ghana named for Best Africa Team of the Year award

Ghana national team, the Black Stars, have been named in the shortlist for the African National Team award of the year by the Confederation of African Football.

The Black Stars are the favourites to clinch the award following their exploits this year.

They have been named in a three-team shortlist from which the winner will be chosen.

They will face stiff opposition from Egypt while Algeria are also in the hunt for the continental prize.

The award ceremony will be held in Cairo on 20 December.

Ghana are the favourites because they were the only African country to reach the quarter finals of the World Cup held in South Africa in July.

They reached the final of the African Cup of Nations in Angola in January and were beaten by Egypt 1-0.

But with Egypt not playing at the World Cup, Ghana are the favourites to land the award.
