Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman is optimistic about the Black Stars' chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After a shaky start, the national team has bounced back with consecutive wins over Mali and the Central African Republic, climbing to 2nd place in Group I after four matches.
Speaking with BBC Africa, the POAK left-back highlighted the team's potential, noting their strong talent despite recent setbacks.
"I honestly think the guys have been a bit unlucky recently," Rahman said.
"We [Ghana] have some really, really exciting young players in terms of what they can do on the ball and off the ball. We have good prospects too. I still have confidence in them."
Rahman, who played in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is hopeful to compete again in the tournament, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States in 2026.
"Of course, I think about playing in another World Cup, and I think Ghana is on the right path to qualify," he said.
The Black Stars are set to continue their World Cup qualifying campaign in March 2025 with matches against Chad and Madagascar.
Before then, their attention will turn to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where they’ll face Angola in Luanda and then host Niger at home.
