Ghana opens 2010 World Cup training camp in France

Ghana have started their final preparations towards the 2010 World Cup after the bulk of the squad arrived in their camping base in Paris.

The first player to arrive in camp was deputy captain John Mensah who arrived in the French city on Sunday, one day before majority of the players arrived.

The rest of squad led by captain Stephen Appiah arrived in Paris on Monday morning, leading the team from Accra after they met the West African country’s president John Atta Mills at the weekend.

Team coach, Milovan Rajevac, who was completing his last minute monitoring of World Cup opponents of the Black Stars in the Champions League final on Saturday has also arrived in camp.

Ten other Europe-based players who postponed their holidays in Ghana are expected to join by Monday afternoon.

Michael Essien,  Agyemang-Badu, Sulley Muntari were not on board the flight from Accra.

Kevin-Prince Boateng is expected to arrive in camp by Monday afternoon to meet his new national team-mates in the Black Stars camp for the first time.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Eric Addo, Mathew Amoah, Anthony Annan and Hans Adu-Sarpei are all expected to join by the deadline of this afternoon.

Sulley Muntari has been given some days off after helping Inter Milan to win the European Champions League over the weekend.

Michael Essien and Agyemang-Badu have also been given the permission to recover from their knee injuries before they join camp.

The Black Stars will undergo light physical training in the morning and then double up in the evening with tactics from the Serbian master tactian.
