Ghana's group opponents Senegal confidently defeated Mali 2-0 in the Group B opener at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger on Sunday.
Most of the action was reserved for the second-half as Dion Lopy opened the scoring in the 71st minute before Faly Ndaw scored the second goal in the 90th.
This victory allows Senegal to take the lead in Group B pending the second match of the group that would be played on Monday because of floodlights' problem.
Finalist of the last two editions, Senegal has managed to start the tournament by dominating the Malians in a West African derby.
The victory will allow the Cubs to take the lead of the group while waiting for the outcome of the Ghana-Burkina Faso match that was postponed to Monday because of lighting problems.
