The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the successful completion of the 2023-24 season's "Locker Room Bonus" initiative sponsored by betPawa.

The program, designed to reward winning performances by players, distributed a total of GHC 1.23 million to 490 players across the Ghana Premier League.

This initiative, launched in the 2022-23 season, saw a significant increase in player rewards during its second year. Originally offering GHC 150 per player, the bonus amount was doubled to GHC 400 for the 2023-24 season.

BetPawa's Country Marketing Manager, Nii Armah Ashong-Katai, emphasised their commitment to supporting players directly.

"We've sought to go beyond assisting sport management bodies in the administration costs of the game to giving more to the players in terms of direct benefits as a way to motivate and celebrate them further," Ashong-Katai said.

The program ensured swift and convenient payouts. All qualified players received their bonuses electronically via mobile transfer directly after their matches, before leaving the stadium.

While betPawa initially served as the Ghana Premier League's headline sponsor in August 2022, they later shifted their focus to specific partnerships within the competition. However, their support for players through the Locker Room Bonus program continues to make a positive impact.
