Ghana President John Evans Mills is rallying support for the national team despite a colossal 4-1 defeat to the Netherlands.

Mills, a former football administrator, brims with optimisim that the Black Stars can find their rhythm at the tournament which begins next week.

He believes the team will shake-off Tuesday's mediocre performance in the last friendly against Latvia and meet expectations.

"I think that are reserving themselves. It's just the first practice match and I think that when they go to South Africa the situation will be entirely different-they're playing to win and I think they are going to reserve themselves for it," President Mills told the BBC.

" Of course the match against Holland will also give them an opportunity to look at their mistakes and prepare adequately. Practice matches are supposed to unearth weaknesses and mistakes."

Each player could earn as much as US$ 115,000 if the team makes it to the second round of the competition.
