Ghana equaled the Africa Cup of Nations record of consecutive semi final berths after a 2-0 victory over Cape Verde on Saturday in Port Elizabeth.

A second half brace by midfielder Mubarak Wakaso ensured the Black Stars join Nigeria as the most successful team in the history of the prestigious competition to make the last four on four consecutive occasions.

This is a repeat of what Ghana did in the 1963, 1965, 1968 and 1970 tournaments.

Egypt hold three consecutive qualifications to the semi finals during their dominant era where they won three Nations Cup titles on the bounce between 2006-2010.

The Black Stars will now await their semi final opponents which will be the winner of Sunday's quarter final tie between Burkina Faso and Togo.

The team could even go further in achieving another milestone by ending a staggering 31-year trophy drought by winning the tournament in South Africa.
