Ex-England boss Sven Goran Eriksson applied for the Ghana coaching post but was not shortlisted by the Ghana Football Association, Ghansoccernet.com’s own wikileaks can exclusively reveal.

The current Leicester City boss was among the 106 coaches being considered for the vacant Black Stars post.

The revelation was contained in the official GFA document on the coaches who applied for the post which has been leaked to Ghanasoccernet.

The document shows that his CV was slapped in by his agent Athole Still with his phone number clearly printed on it.

The revelation could spark anger among Leicester City fans who might see it as an attempt by the Swede to leave the club.

But it is not known whether he applied for the post before he was appointed by Leicester on 3 October.

Depsite his impressive CV including England, Lazio, Fiorentina and Roma he was not shortlisted by the GFA.

Before joining Leicester, Eriksson had been out of work since managing the Ivory Coast at this summer's World Cup in South Africa, where they failed to reach the knock-out stages.

Prior to that, the former Manchester City manager had a seven-month spell as Notts County's director of football having managed Mexico's national team from June 2008 to April 2009.

Leicester, who were recently taken over by a Thai consortium, reached the play-off semi-finals last season under Nigel Pearson, who subsequently left to take charge at Hull City.
