Ghana snubs Serbian coach Rajevac

Ghana has decided not to hand coach Milovan Rajevac a return to their national team three months after leaving the country.

The Serbian was not included in the five-man shortlist for the vacant Black Stars coaching post.

The current coach of Saudi side Al Ahly had pleaded with the Ghana Football Association for him to return to the Black Stars. But given the treatment he meted out to the country after opting to go for the money in Saudi Arabia when his contract expired, the GFA is not keen on any gamble with the Serbian.

Rajevac steered the Black Stars to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in July but decided not to sign a tabled contract preferring to join the Saudi side who offered him more money.

But with the Serbian struggling with life in Arabia and also failing to get the results in the Saudi league, he approached the GFA earlier this month in Dubai seeking a return.

The GFA rather selected ex-France captain Marcel Desailly, Turkish boss Can Vanli, ex-Morocco coach Humberto Coelho, Goran Stevanovic of Serbia and local coach Herbert Addo to vie for the post.
