Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed Ghana star Andre Ayew came close to joining Serie A giants AC Milan during the summer transfer window last month.

The 24-year-old was a subject of transfer talks from the Stade Velodrome with English and Italian clubs leading the pack to land him but ended up remaining with the Ligue 1 giants.

Di Marzio has claims Andre was on his way to the San Siro before talks broke down at the last minute.

"André Ayew waited for Milan and was close to Napoli during the transfer market. In the end, he didn’t move to Serie A: it was a summer of regrets from that standpoint. His name ended up on Milan’s list for the wing. After a good World Cup, he tried to climb the list, refusing other destinations and promising to move to Milan without asking for particular conditions," he claimed.

Marseille demanded up to 7 million Euros from Milan but the Italians opted to sign other players focusing him to focused his attention on a move to England.

Andre has admitted he wanted a move to the English Premier League.
