A sharp and energetic Andre Ayew helped Al Sadd return to winning ways in the Qatari Stars League on Wednesday.

Ayew was in inspired form in the game against Al-Ahli Doha which ended 3-2 in favour of the Qatari champions.

Despite failing to score in the five-goal thriller, Ayew's work rate was impressive and appreciated by fans at Al Rayyan Stadium, one of the venues for the 2022 World Cup.

Al Sadd's goals came from Ahmad Mohammed Al Saeed, Guilherme Torres and Rodrigo Tabata while Yazan Al-Naimat and Sofiane Hanni scored for the away side.

Al Sadd, who won the championship last season thanks to Ayew's outstanding performances, have had a slow start to the new season.

The victory over Al-Ahli is their first after drawing and losing their first two games. They have four points and are five points behind first-placed Al-Arabi.

Meanwhile, Ayew has only scored one goal this season, which came in the Asian Champions League.

The Black Stars captain may have struggled to find the back of the net, but his efforts have not gone unnoticed. He is trusted by both his manager and his teammates, and he continues to receive high praise in the Arab world.

Ayew scored 15 league goals and led Al Sadd to the league title last season. He also assisted the club in winning the Emir Cup.

With three months until the World Cup, Ayew is eager to lead the Black Stars. He wants Ghana to reach the semi-finals for the first time.

Ghana will face Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay in the group stage.
