Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says he is poised to take lessons to be fluent in Chinese during his time with Shanghai SIPG.

The Black Stars captain sealed a two-year move to join the title-chasing Chinese club in July.

Gyan’s move to Shanghai SIPG made him one of the top paid footballers with a reported weekly earnings of US$350,000.

The move to China however presents fresh challenges for the Black Stars captain especially in the area of communication.

Gyan who is already fluent in English, Italian, French and some few glimpses of Arabic says he is determined to pick up vital lessons to understand Chinese.

“Language-wise I think it is going to be very difficult to speak Chinese but hopefully in a couple of months I will get used to it,” he said.

“I don’t know if I am going to speak Chinese or not but I will make sure to pick up some learnings and try to learn some words in the language.”
