Ghana under-20 striker Ebenezer Assifuah wants to win the top scorer award at U20 World Cup on Saturday as one of the consolations for the country at the tournament in Turkey.

The Black Satellites will play Iraq on Saturday in the third-place palyoff but striker is on the brink of winning the goal-king award of the competition.

The achievement will make him the third Ghanaian to win the award, after Augustine Arhinful and Dominic Adiyiah.

Assifuah netted braces against the USA and Chile, as well as a cracker against France in the semi-final,a game which the Satellites eventually lost.

He is currently tied with Portuguese attacker Bruma and Spanish winger Jese Rodriguez Ruiz, both of whom have been ousted from the competition.

The 20-year- old, who won the Silver boot in Algeria earlier in the year, will be looking to go one step further this time, by netting against Iraq in the third and fourth place match on Saturday.

The Liberty Professionals man is disappointed not to have reached the final but is now hoping to help his side secure the bronze medal, which will serve as some consolation for the entire nation of Ghana.

“My fellow countryman Dominic Adiyiah won the Golden Boot four years ago. I never expected to emulate that, but now I actually have the chance,” he told FIFA.com.
