Ghana moved up three places in the latest Fifa ranking despite failing to meet expectations at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars' fourth place feat saw them jump from 26th to the 23rd position on the table released on Wednesday.

Ghana are now the continent's second best team behind Ivory Coast who despite losing out in the final, also moved three places up to 15th position.

Zambia, first time winners of the Nations Cup, propelled them inside the top 50 for the first time in 11 years.

The Chipolopolo are now ranked 43 thus moving 28 places up the ladder.

Germany have jumped above the Netherlands into second and Portugal, Italy, Côte d’Ivoire and Mali have also made progress.
