Ghana sweat on goalkeeper Kwarasey for Tunisia clash

Ghana's no.1 goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has emerged a major injury doubt for the Nations Cup quarter final clash with Tunisia on Sunday.

This was confirmed by coach Goran Stevanovic at the pre-match press conference on Saturday though no further details on the specification and magnitude of the injury was given.

Stevanovic however added he is ready to hand reserve goalkeeper Daniel Agyei a starting role against the Carthage Eagles if his first choice, Kwarasey fails to make a recovery.

“Right now he (Kwarasey) has a bit injury and if he is not able to play on condition  I am sure in Daniel Agyei," Stevanovic said.

Kwarasey who plays his club football for Norwegian club Stromsgodset has been criticized for his lack of command especially with aerial balls in post for the Black Stars at the tournament.

His nervousness was clearly manifested during Ghana's final group match against Guinea where he conceded a very cheeky goal.

Stevanovic however insists confidence reposed in the 24-year-old remains intact despite the flurry of criticisms that has come his way.

“The difference between the fans and journalists and the coach is big.

“Because I need to concentrate and analyze details of the game.

“If you saw good match against Guinea, Adam Kwarasey concede one goal casually I think, but he saved two clear goals.

“If you don’t know please watch the match again I am sure you will see that," he added.
