Ghana U-20 coach Maxwell Konadu refuses to lay blame on his team’s 3-1 loss to Uganda squarely on the soggy pitch used on Saturday.

The Black Satellites where brought down to their knees in the first leg of the African Youth Championship in Navikubo.

Many reasons amongst the poor playing surface has since been attributed to Ghana’s loss but Konadu refuses to give in rather preferring to take on board the lessons learnt.

“The boys did their best, they played very well especially in the second half,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We can’t say like 100% it was because the pitch was not in good condition. It was the same pitch they (Uganda) also played on so we cannot say it was the pitch but it contributed to our downfall.

“We’ve learnt our mistakes and we’ll make amends and try to turn the tables around.”

Ghana will meet either Morocco or Gambia in the ultimate qualifier if they manage to get pass the Ugandans in a fortnight.
