Black Satellites midfielder Kudus Mohammed says the main goal of the team is to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland later this year.

The team is currently in Niger preparing ahead of the Africa Youth Championship, which is also a qualification tournament for the global showpiece.

Mohammed, a member of the Black Starlets that reach the quarter finals of the U-17 World Cup in India two years ago is expected to play a key role for Ghana in Niger.

“Our objective is to bring the trophy home. That is the main goal," he told reporters.  “But first to qualify for the World Cup and when we qualify and then we will look forward to bringing the trophy home,” Kudus added.

The 18 year old FC Nordsjaelland midfielder joined the team last week and believes the team will be ready for the tournament proper before February 2nd.

“We have been preparing for this tournament since we qualified. We are going to play some friendly games in Niger. Is very good. Because it’s a different setting, different weather, different food and culture.

“All these play part in the game. So it’s good we go there for some few days to prepare for the AFCON.”

Ghana are in group B of the competition together with Mali, Burkina Faso and Senegal.
