Ghana U20 assistant coach Preko expresses worries over SA pitch

Ghana assistant coach Yaw Preko has expressed concern about the state of the pitch in Johannesburg for the Africa Youth Championship.

The danger posed by the uneven and muddy surface was also highlighted by Nigeria U20 coach John Obuh when they defeated the Ghana U20 2-1 on Monday in Group B.

Preko questioned whether Caf observed the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg before approving it for the U20 championship.

"The pitch is so bad. Caf did not try at all putting all eight teams on this pitch,” Preko told Kickoff.

“There are many good pitches in South Africa, I thought.

“Playing on this pitch is like punishment to the various teams. It's going to be difficult for the scouts to pick the players from this place," he said.

Ghana must beat Gambia in their next game on Thursday to brighten their chance of reaching the last eight.
