Ghana Under-20 head coach Orlando Wellington claims he needs no reminder that defending African Youth Championship trophy next year would not come on the cheap.

Wellington, who assisted Sellas Tetteh coach at the last championship in Rwanda, has not ruled out his team's chances of staging a successful defence but expects a ''tough journey''.

"The journey to Libya will be very tough because since we are the defending champions, if you check the records we are a very good team and we qualified despite assembling a new team," Wellington told Ghanasoccernet.com

"Any country facing Ghana will be prepared very well-psychologically, physically and so we must take very our preparations serious and prepare well for the championship in Libya."

The Black Satellites thumped Benin 4-1 last Sunday to wrap up a 6-1 aggregate win to secure a place in the finals of next year's championship to be hosted by Libya.

Ghana never lost a match in the qualifiers and will go into finals as genuine contenders to win a fourth African title.

Five-time winners Nigeria, Egypt, Lesotho, Gambia, Cameroon, hosts and Mali have qualified for the draw for the tournament which will run from 18 March-01 April.
