Ghana's Under-20 were crashed 3-0 by a clinical Italy Under-20 side at the Stadio Communale di Viterbo in a friendly played on Wednesday afternoon.

The Satellites were handed a sucker punch as early as two minutes when a harmless cross from the left flank was spilled by goalkeeper John Mossie.

The ball dropped on the turf and right-back Thomas Boakye's attempt to clearance turned out to be the opener.

Ghana had very little time to plot a recovery as the second goal followed two minutes later.

Striker Guissepe De Luca profited from a collapsed defence and drove through the heart of the Satellites back line to finished off a nice move.

Liberty Professionals Charles Dwamina could have reduced the deficit on 16 minutes but his shot wide from inside the box.

He spinned to beat his marker and quickly pulled the trigger but that shockingly was off target.

In the 24th minute, Kamal Issah put Dwamina through but the latter's attempt goal went over the bar again.

Italy then responded with a fast attack when attacker Cristian Damian Battocchio launched a powerful drive but that was blocked.

Ghana failed to defend properly and had their backs to the wall with another attack mounted by Italy.

Striker Giacomo Beretta shot from far but the ball deflected off the body of Nelson and fell into the path of Manuel Fischnaller who blasted from 12 yards for the third goal.

The Ghanaians looked ashen-faced and left with the look of men caught sleep walking in the middle of a nightmare.

Just after the half-hour mark, Dwamina could have brought the Satellites back into the game but his shot from the box was beautifully palmed away by goalkeeper Alessandro Iacobucci.

On the stroke of half-time, Kamal Issah stole a neat ball and raced into the box in a three-on-one situation but his decision to lay a pass to Dwamina was blocked.

Italy made who wholesale changes in the second half and hardly tested the Ghanaians.

Nadir Minotti was the first to test the Satellites with a powerful shot and continued to torment's their goal area with some silky play but missed chances.

Ghana stop gap coach Oti Akenten also made changes but his side did not have the cutting edge to turn possession into gains.
