Ghana Under-23 midfielder Malik Akowuah must pass a late fitness test on Friday to confirm his participation in the All Africa Games, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The AshantiGold player sustained a thigh injury in training on Thursday and will undergo a follow-up MRI test to determine the extent of injury.

The news comes as a huge blow to coach Akwasi Appiah who has already lost one of his three strikers, Ben Acheampong, to a knee injury.

If Akowuah fails the test, Ghana will have to make do with only 18 players since his final list has already been submitted to Caf.

The Black Meteors begin their campaign against Senegal on 4 September before matches against Cameroon and Uganda in Maputo, Mozambique.
