Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac was modest in his praise of goalkeeper Jojo Wallocott but said debutant merited to start in the 3-1 win over Zimbabwe on Saturday, 9 October in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Swindon Town FC was a surprise choice to start after earning his first ever senior national team call-up and he proved his mettle.

Despite conceding in his first cap, the 25-year-old won over the fans with his composure and agility.

Rajevac revealed the untested gloves man proved he had the requisite qualities to man the post when he arrived in camp.

''It's all about good scouting. Since he arrived in camp, he proved himself at the training sessions," the Serb said in his post-match conference.

''He did very well and deserves the chance [to start for Ghana]. I was satisfied with his performance in today's game. I don't want to praise him much but he did a good job for the team"

Wallocott is expected to maintain his slot when the Black Stars travel to Harare to face Zimbabwe in the return leg clash.
