Ghana winger Edwin Gyasi is delighted after captaining CSKA Sofia for the first time in their 1-0 win over Vereya in the Bulgarian top flight league on Sunday.

Gyasi was given the opportunity to lead the team after the main skipper for the side, Nikolay Bodurov was suspended.

The Reds clinched maximum points after Portuguese midfielder Tiago Rodriques netted the only goal in the game.

In the aftermath of the match, the 27-year-old took to Facebook to express his excitement over the honour.

“Good win today! Honored to be the captain of the team!”

He has so far netted three goals for CSKA Sofia this term.

Born in the Netherlands to Ghanaian parents, Gyasi made his senior debut for the senior national team, the Black Stars in a 5-1 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification win over Congo on 5 September 2017.
