Ghana winger Joseph Painstil ruled out of KRC Genk's clash against KAA Gent

Ghana winger Joseph Painstil will miss KRC Genk's match against KAA Gent in the Belgium Pro League on Sunday.

The 24-year-old picked up an injury in the game against Union Saint-Gilloise last week and has failed to recover in time for tomorrow's clash.

However, he is expected to make an injury comeback after the international break, having been an important part of the team this season.

Meanwhile, in his absence, manager Wouter Vrancken will rely on Aziz Ouatara to fill the temporal void left by the Ghanaian winger.

“Aziz Ouatarra will take Painstil's place in the competition core,” said Vrancken at his press conference.

“He won't be gone for very long. He himself indicates that it is going well and the international break is coming. So that brings extra peace of mind.

“How are we going to replace him? Today we trained as we are going to start, but Hein Vanhaezebrouck is a very good trainer. We have options everywhere. We shouldn't make him smarter than he already is."

Painstil has been in superb form for Genk this season, netting four goals in eight matches.
