Ghana international winger Samuel Owusu was on target as Al Fayha SC break a 16-year-old jinx in the Saudi Arabia First Division on Tuesday.

Al-Fayha achieved a victory against their Gulf rivals for the first time in 16 years by thrashing them 5-0 at the Al-Fayha Stadium at full-time.

Since a victory over Al-Khaleej in January 2007, Al-Fayha failed to defeat Al-Khaleej in matches that brought them together in the Saudi Arabia second-tier.

Tuesday's scoreline is the biggest in the two teams meetings.

Owusu scored the first goal in the 49th minute and Hamad Al-Juhaim added the second goal five minutes later before Faisal Al-Juhani added the third goal after only two minutes.

Talal Majrashi scored the fourth goal nine minutes from full-time and Ibrahim Al-Harbi completed the rout in the additional minutes.

With this victory, Al-Fayha consolidate their second position with 67 points as they intensify their top-flight promotion quest.
