Ghana's Group D opponents Germany thrashed a local amateur team 24-0 in their training camp in Sudtirol, Italy on Wednesday.

Goals from the Bayern Munich duo of Miroslav Klose (5) and Mario Gomez (5) who just returned from Champions League duty was just a fragment of what turned out to be a complete riot.

Fellow strikers Cacau and Stefan Kiessling scored two each, while Lukas Podolski was also on target.

The rest of the goals were scored by Piotr Trochowski (3), Andreas Beck (2), Toni Kroos (2), Arne Friedrich (1) and Sami Khedira (1).

Three-time champions will play two more warm-up games against Hungary on 29 May and Bosnia on 2 June.

Ghana play Germany in the final Group D match at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg on 23 June.

Germany coach Joachim Low has named Bayern defender Philipp Lahm as his new captain after the substantive, Michael Ballack pulled out of the competition through injury.
