Ghana youth midfielder Godfred Donsah Cagliari will have to convince Gianfranco Zola, his new coach at Catania, after the sacking of the Zdenek Zeman.

Zeman signed Donsah from Hellas Verona this summer and promised to hand him playing time but times were rough and he got fired.

The 18-year-old made seven Serie A appearances for the first half of the season including one start.

Donsah is currently on holidays in his native Ghana and will re-join the team on 29 December.

"Welcome home Gianfranco," read the statement posted on the Cagliari website.

Zola takes charge of his first Serie A club, as his only previous Italian coaching experience was as co-manager of the Italy Under-21 side.

Funnily enough, it is his co-Coach in that experience Pierluigi Casiraghi who will now act as Zola's assistant manager at Cagliari.

Zola worked in England at West Ham and Watford.
