Ghanaian forward Mohammed Dauda became the only second African footballer to score on his debut for Tenerife when he opened the scoring in their Segunda Division match last Saturday.

Dauda netted the consolation goal for Tenerife when they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to SD Eibar in the opening game of the 2022-23 season.

The only two of Africans who managed to mark their debut with a goal are Dauda and former Cameroon international Daniel N'Gom Kome.

Kome who is also the African with most appearances for Tenerife is well remembered for scoring the goal in the last promotion to the Primera La Liga of the Blue and Whites, in 2009.

Interestingly both Dauda and Kome debuted and scored at the same venue, Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, the home of Eibar .

The Cameroonian was in the 2008-2009 season, specifically on matchday 3, when he made his debut as a Blue and White and scored the momentary 0-1.

However, as happened last Saturday after Dauda's goal, Eibar overturned the scoreline around and ended up winning 2-1.
