Ghanaian attacker Brian Brobbey says it wasn't an emotional decision as he opened up on what motivated him to leave Ajax.

The player born in Amsterdam informed Ajax during the recently ended season that he won’t renew his contract and reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to join them on a free transfer in the summer.

He will officially join the Bundesliga giants on July 1 and according to him, he made up his mind to leave after Ajax signed another attacker in Sebastien Haller.

“It was not an emotional decision. I had the feeling Ajax would get another striker. I already knew it. But they promised me they wouldn’t. I also had to prove myself more than any other player. Always. I don’t know why," the teenager said.

In the same interview, he left the door open for a possible return to Ajax in future.

“It’s no bullshit Ajax wants me back. Whether I want this to happen? I just want to play, let's leave it at that. But Leipzig wants a big transfer fee. Ajax has the money, we need to leave it up to Marc [Overmars],” he concluded.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut for Ajax in October 2020 after nine years in the youth teams.
