Ghanaian defender Bright Gyamfi is on the verge of extending his contract at Italian Serie B side Benevento Calcio.

Gyamfi has endured a difficult period with the Witches in the 2019/20 season after failing to churn out regular playing time.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move away from the club as Trapani Calcio showed keen interest in signing him during the January transfer window.

However, the deal fell through after coach Filippo Inzhaghi vetoed his sale to their Serie B rivals.

Reports from the club's camp suggest that despite the coronavirus crisis, Benevento are close to tying up contract extensions to some of their players including Gyamfi.

Other players who are close to contract renewals are veteran right-back Cristian Maggio, Pier Graziano Gori and goalkeeper Niccolò Manfredini.

Gyamfi made just 2 appearances for the club before the league was grounded to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.
