Ghanaian defender Elimelech Enyan leaves Chievo Verona after club's financial troubles

Italian-born Ghanaian defender Elimelech Konduah Enyan has left Chievo Verona after the club was hit with financial crisis.

The serie B club have been demoted to serie D and face bankruptcy following mismanagement and the non-payment of taxes.

Elimelech Enyan is now a free agent and could join any club of his choice in the summer transfer window.

The left-back was born in Italy to Ghanaian parents, and started his career with Chievo before moving to Atlanta 2019.

He rejoined his former club in 2020 but leaves due to the club's financial troubles.

Chievo Verona were kicked out of Serie B for the 2021-22 season and their place has now been taken by Cosenza.

The Gialloblu had one final appeal to keep their league position, but that too was rejected.

Every club in Italy must prove their financial status before being allowed to register for the new season, minimizing the risk any side could go bankrupt during a campaign.

Chievo were not allowed to register, as they had outstanding tax payments, and their appeals were all rejected.
