Scottish-born Ghanaian defender Ewan Otoo played a crucial role in Dunfermline Athletic's 2-0 victory over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship.
The match, held at the KDM Group East End Park, marked Dunfermline's 10th win against their rivals, with Raith holding 12 wins and 10 draws in their head-to-head history.
Otoo started and played for 90 minutes, displaying both defensive strength and offensive capabilities. The game's turning point came in the 16th minute when Raith Rovers' Euan Murray was sent off with a red card, leaving his team to play with ten men.
Dunfermline took full advantage of their numerical superiority in the 52nd minute. Otoo scored a stunning left-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by David Wotherspoon after a corner kick.
This goal was Otoo's second of the season, adding to his impressive performances in the Scottish Championship.
Wotherspoon later secured the win with a goal in the 80th minute, set up by Josh Cooper. Despite Raith Rovers having more possession throughout the match, Dunfermline controlled the game with more shots on target and a solid defensive performance.
Dunfermline Athletic will look to continue their winning form as they prepare to face Partick Thistle on September 21st.
