Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Johan Kappelhof scored his first goal of the season for FC Groningen as they made mockery of lower-tier side Flevo Boys by beating them 8-1 in the Dutch Cup on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old central defender signed off the win for Groningen by striking home a 91st minute effort to record his first goal of the season.

After Michael de Leeuw had netted four times, and three different players had grabbed separate goals, Groningen were thought to be tired of scoring but Kappelhof further polished the victory with a final goal at the dying embers of the game.

Kappelhof has a Ghanaian mother and a Dutch father and has represented Holland at youth level but uncapped at the senior side.
