Ghanaian defender Ofoli Quaye has been compared to Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk following his explosive performance in the Segunda División B for UD San Sebastien.

The 20-year-old centre-back is enjoying a fabolous campaign in Spanish lower tier where he has featured 14 times for his side, starting 13 in those matches.

The Ghanaian is on loan from CD Leganés but remains to be seen if the Madrid team can retain the defender, who has already aroused the interest of big clubs in Spain and even Europe.

He has already been talked up as a carbon copy of Dutchman Virgil van Dijk as they posses similar qualities.

The youngster has already spoken about his admiration for his role model.

"I admire Virgil Van Dijk. He is a player who serves as an example for me, he is very talented and disciplined and I always learn a lot from him watching his games," said Quaye.

"For now I don't know the plans that Leganés has for me, I always focus on working hard and making sure that in each game I give everything I have.

Comparisons in sports often represent a slab in the careers of many young footballers, who are always under the prism of comparison. However, it has been Ofoli Quaye himself who has highlighted his similarities with Virgil van Dijk.
