Ghanaian Enock Kwateng says ‘stupid mistakes’ cost Bordeaux victory at Montpellier

Published on: 23 September 2021

French defender of Ghanaian origin Enock Kwateng fumed at his teammates following Bordeaux's 3-3 draw at Montpellier on Wednesday.

Kwateng feels Bordeaux should have won the match and attributed their failure to 'stupid mistakes'.

"We have to win this match. We make stupid mistakes, we do not play in the right area and we lose the ball. We leave La Mosson with a point. It's not disgusting but it's not quite," Kwateng said at the post-match conference.

The thrilling contest at Mosson Stadium saw Bordeaux stage a comeback to lead after 29 minutes but the home side regained the lead 20 minutes to full time.

Bordeaux equalised through Nigerian Samuel Kalu in the 85th minute to snatch a point away from home.

Kwateng lasted the entire duration of the game for Bordeaux. He was deployed on the right of a three-man defence.

Meanwhile, Ghana left-back Gideon Mensah was an unused substitute for Bordeaux.
