The Electricity Company of Ghana says they cannot guarantee uninterrupted power supply during the World Cup period much to the displeasure of local fans.

The country's only source of electricity supply claims facing challenges with the installations as some of the equipment has become obsolete.

"It is not our intention to put off power during the World Cup but we must all know that anything can happen," Erasmus Baidoo, ECG's Ashanti Region Public Relations manager told Daily Graphic

"We however pray that all goes on well."

This is expected to affect the viewing of all 62 matches that will be telecast on local television stations and pay-TV networks.

Football fans have already pleaded with the electricity providers not to interrupt their viewing of the World Cup with frequent power outages.

During the last World Cup finals, the mining companies in Ghana were instructed to cut down production to consume power.
