FC Luzern have announced the signing of Ghanaian forward Asumah Abubakar from fellow Swiss top-flight club FC Lugano.

Abubakar has signed a two-year contract, with Luzern becoming his third club in Switzerland having started at SC Kriens.

“We are convinced that Asumah Abubakar will strengthen us with his qualities on the offensive,” said FCL sports director Remo Meyer on the occasion of the signing of the contract.

“He’s a constant source of trouble on the field and also has the necessary scorer qualities that we need.”

The 24-year-old who has a Ghanaian passport will train with the team for the first time on Friday.

The former Willem II forward will wear shirt number 24 at Luzern.

Both parties have, however, agreed not to disclose the transfer modalities.
