Ghanaian forward Elvis Manu was on target for Botev Plodiv in the Bulgarian league on Friday night.

The experienced forward netted his side's second in the 3-2 defeat to Spartak Varna. Manu won a penalty but missed before pouncing on the rebound.

After a goalless first half, hosts Spartak Varna scored two quick-fire goals to take a 2-0 lead in five minutes. Bozhidar Vasev opened the scoring in the 47th minute before an own goal from Mohamed Amine Brahimi five minutes later.

Botev pulled one back through Antoine Baroan, who scored from the spot, but Varna restored their two goal lead with 15 minutes remaining after Rumen Ivaylov Rumenov fired home for the hosts.

Elvis Manu was fouled in the box in injury time, and the Dutch-born Ghanaian elected himself for the spot kick which was saved before he smashed home from close range.

He has now scored two goals and provided two assists in six games for Botev.
