Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Jonathan Opoku salvaged a point for VVV Venlo against Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.

Following a cagey first half, Heerenveen defender Sven Botman committed a rough challenge on Opoku which referee Richard Martens blew his whistle for a penalty in the 57th minute.

Opoku made no mistake from 12 yards as he handed the visitors the lead.

But the Yellow and Black lads did not protect their slim advantage as Sheral Floranus equalized for Heerenveen in the 69th minute to end the game in a 1-1 stalemate.

Opoku was taken off in the 93rd minute of the match.

He has scored 6 goals and registered 2 assists in 15 leagues games for VVV Venlo in the ongoing season.
