Ghanaian Justin Diehl gets Germany U19 call-up for European Championship qualifiers

FC Cologne forward Justin Diehl has received his debut Germany U19 call-up for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers.

Diehl, who has Ghanaian roots, has been included in the squad named by coach Guido Streichsbier for the mini-tournament with games against Armenia, Belarus and Slovakia.

For 17-year-old Diehl, who has already made eight international appearances for the German U16s and U18s, this should be a very special reward.

After an almost endless injury break, FC Cologne coach Stefan Ruthenbeck and the medical department carefully picked him up again and scored at the beginning of the season in the Bundesliga and in the DFB Cup almost at will.

With six goals in five competitive games, Diehl has now again recommended himself for higher tasks in the jersey of the German national team.

Diehl was born in Germany and holds a German passport but he has Ghanaian roots because of his parents.
