Ghanaian Lloyd Sam hoping to impress this term for Leeds

Leeds United winger Lloyd Sam is hoping his hard work and dedication will pay dividends this season after working hard over the summer.

Lloyd impressed during the first two months of last season, scoring three goals in the space of a week in August, but injuries disrupted his campaign and appearances were limited.

But, while his team-mates were able to relax during the summer break, Lloyd has been working hard over the past few months.

"I've been in quite a lot of the off season so coming back in last week wasn't a lot different for me," he explained.

"Since March I've been working on a programme to strengthen my leg because I kept breaking down with a knee injury. So, three days a week wherever I've done an intense leg circuit. I've kept up to it and I feel strong.

"Hopefully people will see that. It was difficult last season, but we identified the problem that my left leg wasn't strong enough. Hopefully it's strong enough now."

Lloyd certainly showed no ill effects as the work started in earnest last week.

"The first day was tough, but it always is," he added. "It's always hard but you have to get through it.

"The mood in pre-season is that everyone gets on with it, and when you start with the games everyone wants to impress to try and get in the team."
