Danish-born Ghanaian midfielder Nicolas Nartey says he is back to fight for a position at VfB Stuttgart.

The 21-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Hansa Rostock and Sandhausen, but returns to the Bundesliga side ahead of the start of the new season.

"I'm happy to be here and to show what I can," Nartey confidently told VfB's club channel ahead of pre-season.

Following his loan spells at Rostock and Sandhausen, the Denmark U-21 player says he's matured enough for top-flight football.

"I've become more mature," he says of himself. "I learned men's football in Rostock."

"The year in Sandhausen was difficult, also for the head. There was constant pressure," said Nartey. "A good experience," he added.

He is currently on preseason with the club who have lined up friendlies against St Gallen and Damstadt before the league opener against Greater Furth.
