Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to benefit from Diego Simeone's variant tactical plan for the upcoming season at Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old former Tema Youth midfielder is set to remain at the Stadio Vicente Calderon as Simeone has kept him in his pre-season squad despite interest from a number of La Liga clubs.

According to experts who have monitored the pattern of the Argentine gaffer's pre-season scheme, he is likely to employ 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2 formations.

The 4-2-3-1 means Simeone will need a good blend of experience and youth energy in his squad for both domestic and European campaigns. Experienced legs like Koke and Raul Garcia are expected to feature regularly while Partey blends with the pair.

Though Partey is widely expected to remain at the club, he has remained coiled over where he will play in the upcoming season as the transfer window is still opened.
