Ghanaian players abroad: Derek Boateng, the hero

Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng struck an 80th minute winner for Getafe as they rallied from two goal down to beat Almeria 3-2 away.

Almeria goalkeeper Alves kept his side on level terms with two good saves after that, but Manu beat two defenders to set up Boateng for a back-heeled winner from close range with 20 minutes left.

In England:

Bad weather conditions caused most matches in the English Premiership to be called off.

The much anticipated clash between Michael Essien's Chelsea and Manchester United was also called off as a result.

But Sunderland's injury crisis worsened after defender John Mensah limped off after just 22 minutes with an ankle injury in their 1-0 win over Bolton.

The center-half was replaced by Egyptian international Ahmed Al-Muhammadi.

It took a fine save from Jaaskelainen to keep out Asamoah Gyan's 31st-minute shot after it clipped Gary Cahill on its way towards goal after Lee Cattermole had played the striker in over the top.

Elsewhere in the Npower Championship, Leeds United moved to second spot after posting a 2-0 victory over leaders Queens Park Rangers.

Winger Lloyd Sam replaced two goal hero Max Gradel on the 76th minute while Patrick Agyemang was absent from the team that made the trip.

Bristol City's three match winning streak was ended by Hull City in fashion with striker Jay Simpson grabbing a brace.

Albert Adomah lasted the entire 90 minutes for Bristol City.

Germany:

Isaac Vorsah continued his spell on the sidelines this weekend when TSG Hoffenheim drew 2-2 with Wolfsburg at their own backyard.

Striker Prince Tagoe lost his place in the Hoffenheim first team.

Isaac Boakye once again missed out of first team action for Nurnberg which trounced Hannover 96 3-1 at home.

Charles Takyi came off the St. Pauli bench to assist two goal hero Lehmann for the second goal.

Pauli's miseries in the Bundesliga compounded with a 2-4 defeat at home to Mainz 05.

Defender Davidson Drobo-Ampem is yet to make a first team appearance for St. Pauli.

Ghana left-back Hans Adu-Sarpei was not involved in their Schalke 04's 3-0 romp over FC Koln.

Italy:

Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah warmed the bench for Cesena which squeezed past Cagliari 1-0 to end their winless run.

Kevin-Prince Boateng played 86 minutes for AC Milan in their painful 0-1 defeat to AS Roma at the San Siro.

Boateng played a starring role in the game before being replaced by Brazilian Ronaldinho with four minutes left.

Udinese's inconsistent form in the Serie A was highlighted again in their 3-2 at Lazio.

Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah was substitute on 56 minutes while Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu watched the action from the touchline.

In the Serie B, Reggina lost 2-1 to a ten man Ascoli in a pulsating encounter on Saturday afternoon.

Dominic Adiyiah provided the assist for Simone Missiroli on the sixth minute to open the scoring but Ascoli fought from behind to win 2-1.

Ghana youth Yaw Asante won a penalty for Grosseto in their two-all draw with Crotone.

The 19-year-old paved way for Roman Allegretti after 73 minutes.

France:

Andre Ayew played full throttle for Olympique Marseille in their 1-1 draw with Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.

His younger brother Jordan Ayew sat on the bench throughout.

Holland:

Eric Addo made a return to the Philips Arena but sat on the bench for the entire duration when his Roda JC were hammered 3-1 by his former club PSV Eindhoven.

A ten-man NAC Breda did not have services of Ghana hit-man Matthew Amoah as they drew one-all with Vitesse Arnhem at home.

Vitesse had Ghanaian international Laryea Kingston on their bench but he was introduced on  77 minutes.

Spain:

Would-be Ghanaian winger Jeffery Sarpong played five minutes for Real Sociedad in their home defeat by Valencia.

The former Ajax youth mercurial winger took the place of Diego Zurutuza on the 85th minute but could help them salvage a point.

Derek Boateng's 71st minute strike proved priceless for Getafe in their game with Almeria on Sunday evening.

Getafe fought twice from behind before Boateng finally undid the home side with a 71st minute cool finishing.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie played 28 minutes for Malaga which slipped to a 0-3 home defeat against Atletico Madrid.

In the Segunda Division, Jonathan Mensah was an unused sub for Granada FC in their scoreless stalemate with Huesca.

Wakaso Mubarak was cautioned on the nick of full time for a rough challenge in Elche FC's 1-1 drawn game with Rayo Valencano.

Both sides finished the game with ten men apiece.

Belgium:

Daniel Opare was sent off in Standard Liege's 1-2 away reverse at Kortrijk.

The former Real Madrid reserves team player was sent off for a second bookable offence after he was cautioned on the 56th minute of the of them game.

Stephen Ahorlu, Osman Basiru and Eric Gawu all started for Hapoel Ashkelon in their 2-3 loss to FC Ashdod.

Basiru was replaced moments after recess.

Former Kpando Hearts of Lions striker Samuel Yeboah helped Beitar Jerusalem to book a 1-0 victory over Hapoel Kiryat Shmona.
