Winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie missed out of Manuel Pellegrini's first team squad that squeezed out a one-all draw from Villarreal at the Estadio El Madrigal.

Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah was a pillar at the back for Granada FC when he came on as a 28th minute sub for team-mate Mainz as Granada managed to hold Ponferradina to a scoreless draw.

Wakaso Mubarak did not play for Villarreal B which shared the spoils with Las Palmas after a 2-2 draw game.

Italy:

Kevin-Prince Boateng returned to the folds for AC Milan after enduring several weeks on the sidelines.

He replaced Alexander Merkel in the 74th as Alexandre Pato came off the bench to score AC Milan’s winner as the Serie A leaders brushed aside Chievo Verona 2-1.

Black Satellites midfielder Salifu Amidu is yet to make a Serie A bow for his new club Fiorentina.

He played with the reserves as Fiorentina drew goalless with visiting Sampdoria.

Another Black Satellites player Richmond Boakye-Yiadom was out of Genoa's first team that emerged victors over AS Roma in an action-packed game 4-3 win over AS Roma.

Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah continued his bench warming exercise for Cesena over the weekend as they drew 2-2 with Parma.

Kwadwo Asamoah helped Udinese to stretch their unbeaten run in the Serie A to six games after playing a scoreless drawn game with Brescia at the Stadio Friuli.

Compatriot Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu watched the entire action from the bench.

Holland:

Matthew Amoah lasted the entire duration for NAC Breda which were swept away by PSV Eindhoven.

Amoah failed to convert an early opportunity and PSV took control of the game scoring four goals with Breda replying only once.

Ghana left-back David Nii Addy was conspicuously missing for Academica de Coimbra which lost 0-1 at home to Rio Ave.

Switzerland:

Veteran midfielder Mark Edusei helped Bellinzona to book a comfortable 2-0 win over Lucerne.

Team of the Week: Formation- 4-1-4-1

Stephen Ahorlu

With regular Richard Kingson enjoying a free weekend, the former Hearts of Lions' glovesman has been picked for the number one position although he picked three balls from his net for Hapoel Ashkelon.

His reflexes in the game was below average but will a first choice goalie for our team of the week.

Hans Adu-Sarpei

Weeks after weeks, Sarpei trained with Schalke's reserves after Boss Felix Magath complained of his poor attitude to training.

He was called back for the mid-week Uefa Champions League game at Valencia and warmed the bench.

Sarpei played the entire second half for Schalke and made sure they did not concede a goal.

He is picked for the left-back slot because David Addy did not play while Nana Akwesi Asare picked an injury just after twenty minutes.

Ibrahim Razak:

The midfielder has been selected as a make-shift right-back after playing 90 minutes for  Hapoel Beer Sheva in their 0-3 defeat to Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Isaac Vorsah:

The centre-back was able to hold the back tight for Hoffenheim although they conceded a goal.

Vorsah on Saturday afternoon was the best in his terriotory and retains his place in our last weekend's team.

John Boye

After winning our player of the week award, John Boye went into the weekend's action for Rennes with confidence.

After his defensive partner Theophile Catherine, scored an own-goal, Boye maintained his calm to ensure they won 2-1 at Toulouse.

Anthony Annan:

The 'little man' expressed himself once again in the middle of the field although Schalke lost the battle at Moenchengladbach.

His ball-winning ability was ever present in the game and covered enough distance on the pitch creating space for his colleagues to operate.

Jordan Ayew:

Jordan keeps improving game after game. Just five minutes after coming on as a sub, the Black Satellites player offered the platform for Remy to score the match winner for Marseille against Saint Etienne.

His blistering pace and ability to hold on to the ball helped the homesters at the dying embers of the game.

Kwadwo Asamoah

He had a nice game although Udinese failed to pick all three points against Brescia. His usual intelligent passes were present.

Kevin-Prince Boateng

A fine opportunity to warm himself for a return to the White Hart Lane in the Uefa CL. Boateng looked a bit sluggish but was had a good game.

Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew never lifted his leg off the pedal, he forced forward and kept the Marseille attack always going.

He will form a fine combination with Jordan, Asamoah and Prince in the middle of the pitch.

Charles Takyi:

He did not score but did very well and with Asamoah Gyan absent, Takyi is the man to lead the attack this weekend.

Pauli played against the most prolific team in the Bundesliga this season.

Takyi's inability to penetrate their attack is explanable and also regarding the fact that he was playing behind Gerard Asamoah.
