Former Ghana International Nii Odartey Lamptey, says Ghanaian players fail to adapt in Europe because they are not properly developed before they move out.

There has been a lot of player exodus in the local scene in recent times due to players searching for greener pastures abroad.

Others also believe playing abroad in the top European League guarantees them a national team call up.

According to Odartey-Lamptey, Ghanaian players in the domestic league receive meager salaries or close to nothing hence they are forced to jump  into any boat that will see them play outside the shores of Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on why these players fail to make the cut in Europe he said, “The situation we are in now is that, there’s no money in the system which forces exceptional talents to move outside immaturely,” he told Ocean 1 TV.

“They do not reach the standard they are suppose to reach before moving abroad which makes it difficult for players to survive in the European terrain.”, he added.

Odartey-Lamptey had stints with Anderlecht,Aston Villa, PSV and a host of other big teams in Europe.
