Dutch-Ghanaian forward Ofosu Boakye has taken a giant step in his young career after signing his first professional contract with Dutch Eredivisie club Go Ahead Eagles.
The 17-year-old signed a one-year deal until mid-2026, with an option for one more year, in a significant moment after a successful period with the club's U21 side.
Boakye's journey is one of dedication and rapid development. Having moved from Ghana to the Netherlands at the age of 15, he began playing for DTA Fortius in Amsterdam.
It was not long before Eagles came calling. "A scout noticed me, and Eric Whittie, Head of Youth Development, had great faith in me," Boakye said. "It feels great to justify him."
Known for his speed, athleticism, and confidence in front of the goal, Boakye describes himself as "an all-round striker" who always plays with the aim to score.
After impressing for the U18 and U21 teams, he was invited to train with the first team.
"When the first team required an additional striker, I was summoned. I settled in quickly and liked demonstrating myself," he said. "The team welcomed me right away - it's a very tight-knit group.
Head coach Paul Simonis praised Boakye's attitude: "Ofosu is a humble, hardworking young man who impressed us during training. He's the kind of player who stays after practice to put in extra work. His smile always brings positive energy to the team.".
